Words of Encouragement Are a Scarcity

Tonight on Hannity, Vice President Dick Cheney said the following:

"I'm enormously proud to be an American and to have had the opportunity to serve.  I think the potential is virtually unlimited for the future of this nation and what we can achieve.  I think the next generation will have opportunities to do things we haven't even dreamed of yet."

The proof that beautiful words of national pride and optimism are few and far between these days is that my ears perk up when I hear them and, boy, does it feel good to hear encouragement, rather than non-stop malaise and doom.

I believe what Vice President Cheney said and that optimism is the whole reason the tea party exists.  The current direction of this country is not who we are and we know it.  The tea party knows what needs to happen to correct it and get us back on our path of certain greatness.  I think the discouragement and/or fear sometimes reflected in the polls is simply the somewhat overwhelming nature of our challenges--BUT, we can and will overcome them--we are Americans, after all.
