At the behest of our 10-year-old son, our 2 young daughters and I were talked into a game of touch football tonight (if you can call it that.) My son was laughing about me running with the football and told me, "You're fast when you're desperate, Mom." It should come as no surprise that his remark made me think of politics--specifically, President Obama. It's a quandary to be embarrassed for someone who does not have the capacity to be embarrassed for himself. Odd thing, it is. President Obama, going all over this country, begging people to help him pass his "jobs" bill is an embarrassing spectacle. Today he told a crowd because they love him, they should help him pass his proposed legislation. Really?? Here I always thought legislation was supposed to be based on what's good for our country and her citizens. I had never heard of passing legislation based on the love felt for a specific politician. This sounds like sheer, unadulterated desperation at a fever pitch. His sheen has worn off and people have lost their interest.
This led me to wonder--do you suppose this Democrat party has been desperate all along--even when they had super majorities in both houses? Just consider their behavior ever since Obama won the White House. They have collectively shown nothing but contempt and disregard for everyone, citizens and fellow politicians alike. They have crammed through one spiteful piece of legislation after another, turning a deaf ear to the roaring of the American people, demanding they cease and desist. Aren't these the actions of desperate people? It seems as though they've known from day one they'd have to hurry, hurry, hurry, before anyone has a chance to stop them. They know they're the minority mindset and that they'd have to bust heads to get their will imposed on the rest of us. Desperation has been a major ingredient in every single action taken by our federal government for the last 3 years. Now that the gig is almost up, the desperation is becoming glaringly apparent.
The remarkable thing is, even though they were able to sign into law many despicable things that are wholeheartedly rejected by the majority of the citizenry, much of it can be reversed. So what did they accomplish? Yes, substantial damage has been done and we have our work cut out for us, but it can and will get cleaned up. So, once conservatives have taken over the senate, held the house and won the White House and the dust has settled, what will the liberals be able to point to as their accomplishment? The ironic twist of this whole tangled web is they have shot their own feet. Because of their blind desperation, they have laid fully bare for the American people what liberalism looks like. Gone are the days of a slow, undetectable lowering into the pit of liberalism. They raced full tilt and have left nothing unexposed. Now that they've shown their hand and Americans have seen liberalism on full display, they have nothing left with which to fight. The only thing left for them is final defeat.
