In church this morning, the pastor was discussing a particular story in which a struggle happens with the self-important and destructive Pharisees. The pastor said, "Their agenda was their god." This made me think. What motivates each of us in this struggle? The Founders established this country based on the concept we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. If one truly believes that, then freedom and the unquenchable desire to protect it will reign in each and every decision made by politicians, judges, those who serve in the executive branches and the citizens. Our agenda should never be what guides us, unless that agenda is reconciled with our founding documents. This goes for all political parties. We've seen the damage caused when the agenda is held up above all else. It never ends well and it doesn't matter who employs that approach. There have been many times when the agenda of all parties is the reason for calls of "bi-partisanship" or "working together." How does bi-partisanship and everyone's fingerprints appease us when the result of such baloney is further eroding of our freedom?
What is so amazing and incredible about this tea party movement is they can sniff out an agenda from 3 miles away. The baloney sensors are on high alert and nobody is getting by with any bull. We have become experts at detecting when the agenda is what we're being sold and not freedom. The two stand in stark contrast and we're no longer tolerant of smooth talkers. We want truth and freedom is truth because it comes from above.
