Sharpen Your Axe

Abe Lincoln once said, "Give me six hours to cut down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

This is precisely the strategy being employed by the conservative insurgence.  We've been sharpening the axe for 2.5 years and the tree will sustain a major blow on November 6, 2012.  The effect of the conservative insurgence, though, runs so much more deeply than what anyone can actually measure.  The sharpening of the axe goes all the way down to party delegates, school boards, city councils, county commission boards, state representatives and so on.  The insurgence runs deep and strong and because of the deep, undetectable roots, there will be no eradication.  The most obvious result of just how engrained the constitutional, conservative sentiment is in the country will come in the presidential election, but that office will be only the tip of the iceberg.  We the People know exactly what we're doing and we will not be out-maneuvered or out-worked.  Neither will we be fooled.

Abraham Lincoln also said on February 23, 1861:
"Freedom is the natural condition of the human race, in which the Almighty intended men to live.  Those who fight the purpose of the Almighty will not succeed.  They always have been, they always will be, beaten."

What the elitists in both parties and the permanent political class will never understand nor accept is that freedom is a force with which to be reckoned and it is bigger than even the free themselves.

Common Sense and Government Are Mutually Exclusive

Several weeks ago, our 17-year-old son accidentally flew through a stop sign on his way home from a trip.  The stop sign he blew was at the intersection of 2 highways, with the one he crossed being a very well-traveled one.  Thank God he was not harmed.  Later, when crossing through that intersection ourselves, we realized there are no rumble strips on the road and thought that would be a very simple, likely inexpensive and highly valuable feature to add to that intersection, adding the possibility of saving lives.  My husband placed a call to an official today to make the suggestion/request and was told the State of Minnesota requires counties to add rumble strips to ALL their highways, if they're going to add them to one.  I'd like to know the name of the idiot who thought that would be a totally awesome mandate to place on local officials.  I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of OUR [read: we own them] government TELLING us how it's going to be.  When do they begin regulating underwear?  Bath soap?  Toothpicks?  Fly swatters?  Thumb tacks?  Fingernail clippers?  The length of my child's hair?  My child's bedtime?  The words I use in my private conversations?  How many shirts I own?  I mean, this is so totally out of hand that it's enraging!  I cannot wait until election day.  Is it ok to more eagerly anticipate that than my own wedding day?  OK, maybe it isn't to that point yet, but if this junk keeps up, it might just push me over.  And, actually, I'm not waiting, and haven't been waiting, until election day to do something about the gross misuse of our governmental structure.  The elites have totally screwed themselves.  I wonder when they'll realize it.

We Just Need to Listen to Their Wisdom

Ben Franklin said:

"I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it.  In my youth, I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer.  And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer."

Quotes from our Founders are like a treasure map.  Their guidance will lead us out.

What Is the Driving Force?

In church this morning, the pastor was discussing a particular story in which a struggle happens with the self-important and destructive Pharisees.  The pastor said, "Their agenda was their god."  This made me think.  What motivates each of us in this struggle?  The Founders established this country based on the concept we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights.  If one truly believes that, then freedom and the unquenchable desire to protect it will reign in each and every decision made by politicians, judges, those who serve in the executive branches and the citizens.  Our agenda should never be what guides us, unless that agenda is reconciled with our founding documents.  This goes for all political parties.  We've seen the damage caused when the agenda is held up above all else.  It never ends well and it doesn't matter who employs that approach.  There have been many times when the agenda of all parties is the reason for calls of "bi-partisanship" or "working together."  How does bi-partisanship and everyone's fingerprints appease us when the result of such baloney is further eroding of our freedom?

What is so amazing and incredible about this tea party movement is they can sniff out an agenda from 3 miles away.  The baloney sensors are on high alert and nobody is getting by with any bull.  We have become experts at detecting when the agenda is what we're being sold and not freedom.  The two stand in stark contrast and we're no longer tolerant of smooth talkers.  We want truth and freedom is truth because it comes from above.

Did I Really Just See That?

You know what's really stupid?  I was standing in the Wal-Mart check out line tonight and I saw some kind of "go green," environmentally safe chewing gum.  Apparently when you throw it out, it grows into a tree.  Like, huh???  Now, I love and totally support the free market, so if there's somebody out there who thinks disposed chewing gum is going to take down our planet and wants to create and market a gum that grows into a tree when you throw it away, go for it.  I just hope Obama didn't give them $535 million to develop it cuz I know I'm not going to buy any.

How Do Ya Like Me Now?

I saw on Twitter the other day that the new definition of the word "racist" is "shut up."  Racist is the word thrown out when the person to whom you are speaking is losing the argument, a.k.a. liberals.  Morgan Freeman just notified the whole world he is of the belief the entire tea party is racist and can't get our black president out of office fast enough.  I wonder if he heard the news yet that Herman Cain won the Florida straw poll in a slam dunk.  I think what Morgan was trying to say is "I wish I were conservative because then I could be on the team that's going to win."

I love Herman Cain and I think he stands out and on his own in the Republican presidential debates.  He's honest, plain spoken and firm.  I find the fact that he won the Florida straw poll so decisively very interesting for a few reasons.  First, he's a totally unconventional candidate, having never won elected office. Perfect.  People are sick to death of career politicians, so that would go down as an asset.  Second, he's a highly successful businessman and knows inside and out what makes businesses run.  Third, in a sense I think his victory in the straw poll is an utter rejection of Perry & Romney.  You know what I love?  I love the unadulterated defiance of We the People.  The media and establishment Republicans, who are very, super de duper smart and everything, keep trying so, so hard to tell us we need to pick either Romney or Perry--or Huntsman, depending on who you ask--and that we are advised to just put everyone else out of our heads.  In case the establishment didn't figure it out yet, we're not listening.  WE run this show and that's it.  The establishment should have gotten the message when Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell told everyone Trey Grayson (RINO) would be the new senator from his home state of Kentuky and the people answered with, "No, we don't think so.  We've decided on Rand Paul.  Thanks for your thoughts, though!"

I can't help but strongly sense people are just waiting with open arms for Palin.  I think she is very astute and is just waiting patiently for the process to work itself out and for the time to be right for her to present her candidacy.  We'll see.  This is such an exciting time in our country.  I can't help but wonder if the energy we're seeing and feeling today is the same energy the Founders felt.  I'd like to think so.

Newt's Unmatched Debate Skills

When Megyn Kelly posed a question in tonight's Republican presidential debate to Newt Gingrich, with the premise that Washington won't change, so how can we cut spending, his answer--AGAIN--was priceless.  He basically told her, well, we can't cut spending, based on the way you're presenting the question.  I guess we might as well buy Greek bonds and all go down together, he told her.  The crowd LOVED it.  And he's right on.  He is unmatched in debate skills.  His point, of course, is we WILL change Washington in order to make meaningful cuts in spending.  That's right, Newt.  Keep on unraveling.  Even though I don't support him for the candidacy, he brings great value to each and every debate with his contribution and helps break down the arguments.  We'll take all the good we can from everyone.

Sarah Barracuda

Lately, whenever I heard her talk, all I hear is, "I'm comin' to getcha!"

This Proves My Point

I can understand liberals placing hope in Candidate/President Obama.  I can even understand moderates entertaining the idea of "working with him."  I, however, am afraid of him and it started during the presidential campaign.  There was so much we did not know about him and the little we did know was nothing short of alarming, to say the least.  I thought, there's no way Americans are going to elect this man.  But they did.

Now, having fears confirmed, I cannot understand how it is that only NOW, the New York Times token Republican-ish moderate, David Brooks, can write an article about how disappointed he finally is over President Obama.  Welcome to the party, David.  It boggles my mind to have him finding himself utterly crushed over the fact that Obama has not delivered the moon as promised in Grant Park on election night.  Mr. Brooks is back at the starting line and the race is almost over.  Why, pray tell, is anyone giving any credence to the concept of Obama making a concerted effort to negotiate or advocate for the good of the nation?  Brooks' entire article is based on the premise Obama genuinely wants to work for the good of our country.  OK, that idea, IF it ever was given consideration by conservatives, has been dead in the water for months and months and months.  Brooks says, regarding a recent speech by the president that "the president didn't even try to win Republicans" and "the White House has moved away from the Reasonable Man approach."  WHAT?  What planet is this man living on?  Neither of those items he laments were ever under consideration by the president.  David! THREE days after Obama was sworn in as president, he told Cong. Eric Cantor, "I won" in response to ideas Mr. Cantor was presenting.  Where on earth did you get the idea Pres. Obama is interested in winning Republicans??  Or was that just wishful thinking on your part and not based on evidence of any kind?

The most striking comment Brooks makes in his article is at the end when he says, "To be an Obama admirer is to toggle from being uplifted to feeling used."  According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders by the American Psychiatric Association, people with narcissistic personalities, "tend to form friendships only if the other person seems likely to advance their purposes or otherwise enhance their self-esteem."  Newsflash, Mr. Brooks: Barack Obama needed you and a whole lot of other people to get elected to the presidency.  Now that that's been accomplished, you're expendable.  In other words, you were used.

Knowing What We Battle Helps Us Win

Throughout his presidency, there has been speculation about President Obama's mental health (no derision intended,) specifically whether he is narcissistic.  I find his behavior so bizarre and nearly impossible to understand, so I decided to look into narcissism.  I noticed how listless and distracted he's been during the last few speeches he's given, which is a complete shift from his speeches early in his presidency.  According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) by the American Psychiatric Association, a narcissist is "haunted by criticism [which] may leave him feeling humiliated and degraded." (pp 715)  It appears the nationwide criticism that has been mounting in recent months is resulting in humiliation and degradation, manifesting itself in the utter lack of conviction in his speeches.  I thought, during his joint session of congress speech September 8 and other recent addresses, that it doesn't sound like he believes one word of what he's saying, not to mention the fact he has hesitated more while reading the teleprompter, which is totally inconsistent with his earlier display of skill in delivering a speech.

People with narcissistic personalities also have a driving need for constant attention and praise, which explains the countless addresses to the nation and other speeches.  Like Rush said, he's getting Obama burn-in on his LCD.  A narcissist lacks the ability to understand rejection by anyone, so there would be no capacity to comprehend fatigue on the part of Americans in seeing his face yet again on their television screens.

According to Selecting Effective Treatments by Linda Seligman and Lourie W. Reichenberg, people with narcissism "believe they must always appear powerful, in control, and superior to others, concealing their real selves from others lest their fraudulence and failure be discovered."  (pp. 460)  This characteristic could explain his nose-in-the-air posture whenever he is not speaking, but in attendance at an event, and putting on the appearance of dignified listening.  This would also fit the fact we know very, very little about his time in college; the content of papers written by him, his transcripts, how he got to Harvard, and so on.

According to the DSM, narcissistic individuals "feel that they can only be understood by...people who are special or of high status."  (pp. 714)  This might explain this clip of an interview Brian Williams had with President Obama on September 13, for which Fox News had the headline, "You'll Realize Later What a Good Job I Did."

His apparent perception that we simply do not understand him--because it could NEVER be that he's wrong--is further supported by the fact he said in July, "Sometimes I forgot part of my job is explaining to the American people why we're doing this policy and where we're going."  Again, it could never be that we know full well where he's taking us and we're screaming at him to stop.  The possibility of rejection is not on the radar, nor can it be, as it would amount to admission of fault.  The capacity for fault does not exist in a narcissistic personality.

In Selecting Effective Treatments, the authors note, "fear of rejection or humiliation can [drive] their disregard of rules or the requests of their supervisors."  (pp. 462)  This particular characteristic dovetails with Obama's complete disregard for the constitution (the rules) and the will of the American people (his supervisors.)  Compliance with the requests of others would require deference and showing respect for the judgement of people other than himself.

From what I've been reading about narcissism, it is the result of deep fear and insecurity, due to low self-worth and will result in the driving away of other people, coupled with anger toward others and self.  The driving away of others, or other natural consequences of narcissism, is sometimes met with relief by the narcissist.  In the end, the narcissist self-destructs because their demands, both of others and themselves, can never be met.

Really, what drives President Obama does not matter in the end.  We know, no matter what, he must be defeated.  My motivation for digging further into narcissism and its characteristics is the importance of knowing our opponent.  The narcissist, because of the inability to constructively interact with others, can cause nothing but damage.  Memo to Republicans: there's no working with this man.  What we need to do is to contain the damage as best as we can and then soundly defeat him on 11-6-12.

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures

At the behest of our 10-year-old son, our 2 young daughters and I were talked into a game of touch football tonight (if you can call it that.)  My son was laughing about me running with the football and told me, "You're fast when you're desperate, Mom."  It should come as no surprise that his remark made me think of politics--specifically, President Obama.  It's a quandary to be embarrassed for someone who does not have the capacity to be embarrassed for himself.  Odd thing, it is.  President Obama, going all over this country, begging people to help him pass his "jobs" bill is an embarrassing spectacle.  Today he told a crowd because they love him, they should help him pass his proposed legislation.  Really??  Here I always thought legislation was supposed to be based on what's good for our country and her citizens.  I had never heard of passing legislation based on the love felt for a specific politician.  This sounds like sheer, unadulterated desperation at a fever pitch.  His sheen has worn off and people have lost their interest.

This led me to wonder--do you suppose this Democrat party has been desperate all along--even when they had super majorities in both houses?  Just consider their behavior ever since Obama won the White House.  They have collectively shown nothing but contempt and disregard for everyone, citizens and fellow politicians alike.  They have crammed through one spiteful piece of legislation after another, turning a deaf ear to the roaring of the American people, demanding they cease and desist.  Aren't these the actions of desperate people?  It seems as though they've known from day one they'd have to hurry, hurry, hurry, before anyone has a chance to stop them.  They know they're the minority mindset and that they'd have to bust heads to get their will imposed on the rest of us.  Desperation has been a major ingredient in every single action taken by our federal government for the last 3 years.  Now that the gig is almost up, the desperation is becoming glaringly apparent.

The remarkable thing is, even though they were able to sign into law many despicable things that are wholeheartedly rejected by the majority of the citizenry, much of it can be reversed.  So what did they accomplish?  Yes, substantial damage has been done and we have our work cut out for us, but it can and will get cleaned up.  So, once conservatives have taken over the senate, held the house and won the White House and the dust has settled, what will the liberals be able to point to as their accomplishment?  The ironic twist of this whole tangled web is they have shot their own feet.  Because of their blind desperation, they have laid fully bare for the American people what liberalism looks like.  Gone are the days of a slow, undetectable lowering into the pit of liberalism.  They raced full tilt and have left nothing unexposed.  Now that they've shown their hand and Americans have seen liberalism on full display, they have nothing left with which to fight.  The only thing left for them is final defeat.

Hey, You Wanna Lose? Then Form a Third Party!

I was having a discussion tonight with our 17-year-old son about the political environment.  He was relaying to me a discussion he'd had in his government econ class about the independent party and the concept that supporting third parties by voting for their candidates gives them legitimacy and strengthens them.  As I explained to him what a terrible strategy that is and why, he proved my point by recalling a lesson learned about a time when a third party had the exact opposite result of what was intended.  Back in 1912, Teddy Roosevelt became very unhappy with William Taft and decided to seek the Republican nomination (again) for president.  He was unsuccessful, formed the Bull Moose party and, as their nominee, split the vote with Taft and put Woodrow Wilson in the White House.  Didn't work out too well, considering the downright disdain Wilson had for black people and his resulting push for segregation.  After being on the receiving end of a history lesson from my son, I told him about the 1992 presidential race trio and how we wound up gifted with 8 years of Bill Clinton as a result.

As Dick Armey said, "The tea party movement is not seeking a junior partnership with the Republican party, but a hostile takeover of it."  We are seeing the evidence everywhere in this country that the conservatives instinctively know massive clean-up of our politics is an absolute requirement for the survival of freedom and is going to require facing down the elites within the Republican party.  We have house cleaning to do everywhere.  We must take over the Republican machine on every single level of government, putting in candidates that will be loyal to reinstating freedom and integrity--we already are doing this and are celebrating victories, one after another because of it [read: NY-9 and NV-2.]  The respect the tea party has earned is being proven more and more all the time by things such as, CNN--of all things--partnering with the tea party to host a Republican presidential debate.  If they can't beat us, they may as well join us. Somehow I think there will be quite a few who will have to learn the lesson the hard way.

Newt: "Is [Obama] Willing To Learn Anything?"

Short answer, Newt: No.  This was a question posed by Newt Gingrich on Hannity tonight in discussing the president's bizarre trip around the country, yelling at everyone that Congress MUST pass his jobs bill, sans any discussion.  He & his entourage have reduced themselves to a circus sideshow.  Like Newt asked tonight, what on earth does he think he's going to accomplish?  Because of his own blind arrogance, he's become nothing more than a distraction.  Perhaps there are a few foolish Democrats left in Congress who will bite the hook and file this bill for consideration, but in doing so will only drive in the final nail.  You'd have to be a complete moron to think there is any measure of appetite in this country for yet ANOTHER half a trillion dollars in government spending.  It would amount to throwing gasoline on the fire.

The proof of just how incredibly intense and focused this conservative resurgence is--and how it is most certainly NOT waning in any sense of the word--is shown in the unbelievable victory delivered to us tonight by Brooklyn--New York's CD-9, a.k.a. Anthony Weiner's old house seat.  This is analogous in some ways to Scott Brown winning Ted Kennedy's seat.  This congressional district is 3-1 Democrat and heavily populated with people of Jewish descent.  Unbelievable.  This victory is the appetizer for the most mind-blowing meal we've ever had.  I cannot WAIT to watch the returns November 6, 2012.  It's gonna be the Super Bowl of all elections.

What's the Motivation?

I didn't even know until today that President Obama went to a soup kitchen yesterday in commemoration of 9-11.  I'm not surprised since he has redefined 9-11 as a day of national service.  Whatever.  I was trying to unravel today just what exactly is so disturbing about that gesture.  After all, isn't serving food to the homeless & hungry good?  I decided it depends on the motivation.  I kept thinking about what the overall RESPONSE to 9-11 was, both 10 years ago and yesterday.  I kept comparing in my mind President Obama going to a soup kitchen in RESPONSE to the 10th anniversary of 9-11 to the way the 10's of thousands of fans reacted to the National Anthem at Soldier Field yesterday in RESPONSE to the same anniversary.  Why would a person's reaction to 9-11 be to go to a soup kitchen and feed the hungry?  This is such a bizarre reaction, when the majority of Americans, me included, reacted 10 years ago and, in remembering yesterday, with deep anger and deep, stubborn national pride.  Feeding the hungry at a soup kitchen wasn't even on my radar as a natural reaction to 9-11.  The desire to feed the hungry at a soup kitchen or give to those in desperate need in some other way is something I feel strongly about in response to Christmas as an act of humility and gratefulness toward the rich blessings in my life.  Humility is NOT....NOT....what I felt when those evil men did what they did 10 years and 1 day ago.

I think President Obama's attempt to redefine 9-11 as a national day of service and then serving food at a soup kitchen to prove his point is born out of a sense of shame that he feels about America.  This is not an act of defense of America.  This is a way to ignore the heroics that were on full display 10 years ago by the incredible citizens that did reside and do reside here.  National pride is not embraced by this president.  It is rejected by him.  His act of going to a soup kitchen is one in a long line of examples of him rejecting American exceptionalism and American heroics.

One thing I know is the constant friction of how I feel about my country compared to what I'm hearing out of my president is wearing me out.  Thank goodness we have only 14 months left.

Rumor Has It

There has been ongoing chatter on Twitter and other places online that when Mayor Bloomberg is introduced tomorrow to give his remarks at the 911 commemoration, the crowd will sing "Amazing Grace," even though it is not part of the program.  Mayor Bloomberg decided weeks ago no clergy OR FIREFIGHTERS would be allowed to participate in the memorial.  It's difficult to even type that, thinking there's got to be a mistake.  Well, New Yorkers aren't taking it well, either.  I hope this "flash mob" comes to fruition and We the People once again do what should be done.  Like someone on Twitter said today, when liberals form flash mobs, they take hostages; when conservatives form flash mobs, they sing "Amazing Grace."  Another person said, "Dear New York Fire Fighters, don't feel bad you weren't invited to the 911 memorial.  Neither was I.  Signed, God."  Exactly.  Sickening gestures of appeasement, such as the one on display from the mayor, are exactly the wrong thing to do in response to what happened to us.  Holding up our fire fighters as the heroes they are and singing "Amazing Grace" is exactly the right thing to do.

The best comment I've heard yet, regarding the 10th anniversary came from President Bush today, when he said, "One of the lessons of 911 is evil is real, and so is courage."

The Lion Is Prowling

I was sickened today to hear about the union in Washington state that stormed a place of business, damaged their property and raged about, including holding guards hostage.  They were infuriated because they felt they should have been given the work that was assigned to another contractor.  Sorry to be blunt, but what is this crap?  This sort of junk does NOT belong in this country.  Between unions demanding what they have not earned, marching and screaming that they're being violated and illegals demanding citizenship and then DARING to march on OUR capitol, screaming that we're unfair, I'm beginning to think we're surrounded by brats.  I want all those union members, who DARE to storm someone else's property, damaging it in the process and demanding something that is NOT theirs, to move over to Greece and join their chaos.  We don't want it.

Though it is not their intent, rot gut, despicable behavior such as that provides more damning evidence as to the effects of unions and advances the argument for continuing to undercut and eliminate them.  Just who do they think they are?  I do not understand the union membership mentality.  I'm in a union and I can tell you the attitude and mindset of it is the members are, almost second class, if you will, or limited, and have no choice but to demand what they want and make threats if it isn't given to them.  It's the members vs. "the boss man" and any presumption that one of them could attain the position of "boss man" someday isn't even entertained.  To embrace the union premise, one first has to accept the notion advancement is not possible.  It is expected getting what is wanted will be secured through muscle and not earned through hard work and respect.  I cannot grasp the mentality.  I am my own person.  I make my own decisions and if I'm unhappy with something in my life, I am the one who will be changing it and in no way will I be relying on anyone other than myself to ensure that happens.  That's it.  This is how I was raised. Isn't it the American way?

When our son was granted the opportunity to have his first job at age 15, his dad & I made it clear to him that his new employer was expressing faith in him and expecting him to do his assigned duties to the very best of his ability.  We told him this was the first, extremely important and foundational step in his career.  Work hard and you'll likely earn a good reference, we told him, which then carries into the next job.  And so on and so on and so on.  We told him that business did not HAVE to give him a job, but they chose to and he should be grateful and appreciative toward them and show it in his work.  We categorically reject any other kind of attitude toward work.

"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands...so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."
I Thess. 4:11

The Whole Thing's a Joke

This is already old news, but this cartoon by an artist by the name of Sack is hilarious.

That about sums up the level of reverence the majority feel toward our president right now.  I heard 3 or 4 times today how the president was going to paint the Republicans into the corner tonight with his electric speech.  The evidence of how threatened they apparently felt is shown by the fact they didn't even dispense the energy required for a response.  Why bother?

Great Debate Moment

I need to watch the entire debate yet, but once again Newt nailed it on the worthless, slanted, subjective media:

I'll be very curious to see if Fox redeems themselves on the September 22 Republican debate.  I see they're taking viewer questions to be asked of the candidates that night.  If Fox truly follows through on that and doesn't limit viewer questions to 2 or 3, but, rather, dedicates the entire debate to them, it should be the best debate thus far.  I've said it before and I'll say it again: We the People are decades ahead of the both the establishment media and the establishment politicians.  They can go ahead and waste time, but we're not waiting for them.  The clean-up begins now.

10-Year-Olds Know Everything

So I've been reading a book geared toward children about the merits of conservatism to our 10-year-old son.  Last night I read a comment to him from the book about the fact that our Founders believed government is a necessary evil.  He thought about it for a minute, then said, "Mom, government is like grass.  You gotta have it, but every once in awhile, you gotta cut it down."  Exactly.

Then tonight I had him listen while Mark Levin replayed the remarks made yesterday by mafia...I mean union boss, Jimmy Hoffa, referring to the tea party as SOBs.  (The "B" was bleeped out.)  After listening to Hoffa scream, my son said, "Mom, he's trying to break us up."

I say we all become like a little child so we can gain wisdom.  Kids see things so clearly and have such a snap understanding of right and wrong.  My son also informed me men like that aren't going to win because the tea party is going to fix it.

Right again.

The Stupid Thing President Obama Said

I laughed out loud today while watching Obama's "jobs" speech in Detroit when he said the following:

"We are all in this together.  We are one nation.  We are one people.  We will rise and we will fall together.  Anyone who doesn't believe it should come here to Detroit."

So I assume he meant the evidence of what all of us falling together will look like is embodied in the godforsaken Detroit, with its 24% unemployment, bulldozed neighborhoods, deep-seeded corruption and failing schools.

Smooooth, Mr. President.

Birds Of a Feather Flock Together

With his silence today at his "jobs" speech in Detroit, Barack Obama embraced Teamsters president, Jimmy Hoffa, telling his union cronies, regarding the tea party, "We're going to take those sons of bitches out."  That can be interpreted as nothing other than a threat of assault.  Obama and Hoffa are cut out of the same cloth and those of us who have been paying close attention the last 3 years are not the least bit surprised by these vile words.  Like a true mafia boss, Obama keeps his own hands clean and lets his hit men do the dirty work so he can stand apart from the slime. So let's try to get him on tax evasion, which was the downfall of Capone.

What a bizarre showing, too, to have Obama stand in front of that union crowd and praise them for how hard they're working.  They are??  The city of Detroit has over 24% unemployment!  My God, it's the Valhalla of socialism.  It's the Communist version of the Midas touch!  Misery, despair, destruction everywhere.  What a sight to behold!  The city of Detroit should have signs at every entrance that says, "Welcome to the future. Signed, President Obama."

These jackals just keep providing rock solid proof, every time 2 or 3 are gathered, that their side and our side are mutually exclusive.  I don't believe I've been to a tea party event where it doesn't start with an invocation.  Pride in our nation is overflowing and so is deep worry for our nation's future.  Yes, anger is expressed at the road we're now on, but it is justified.  I cannot comprehend the lack of embarrassment on the part of those union members who show up at those kinds of rallies, demanding more and more and more from their fellow citizens.  They hired Obama to dig for their gold and the fact that their fellow citizens have frustrated his efforts, thereby protecting their own earned property, enrages them.

Oh, and Hoffa?  It takes one to know one.

No, She Didn't, But the Message Was So Worth the Effort

It was well worth driving 6.5 hours with our 4 kids and our dog, followed the next day by sitting in the rain for 3 hours before Sarah Palin took the stage in Iowa yesterday.  She delivered one of the best speeches I've ever heard her give.  She skirted right up to the very edge of announcing her candidacy, without actually stepping over that line.  She was exceptionally hard-hitting against President Obama and said, "We will not solve our economic problems until we confront the cronyism of our president and our permanent political class."  She said, "Like you, I'm not for sale."  She pointed out to the crowd that who and what we replace Barack Obama with is very important. She commented on Obama's plan to raise $1 billion to continue carrying out his plans.  She mentioned she has been outspent in previous campaigns, "2 to 1, 3 to 1 and 5 to 1."  She said to the crowd, "Let me tell you about my plan," then proceeded to outline 7 items she would put into place.  Toward the end of her speech, she said the following about a stop she made after her visit last month to the Iowa State Fair:

"Standing [in Kansas City] in the rain, reading those inscriptions on the [WW I] memorials about the honor and dedication to God & country, I thought of all those young patriots who suffered & died far from home & revering our vets there, with the next generation by my side, there was such clarity in our calling, Patriotic Constitutionalists.  We have a duty, not just to the living, but to those who came & died before us and to the generations yet to be born.  Our freedom was purchased.  You & I are blessed to be born the heirs of freedom."

There were 4 or 5 times I was sure the next words out of her mouth would be an announcement of candidacy.  However, by the same token, I had very serious doubts after the hiccups on Wednesday between her representatives and the planners of the Tea Party of America event.  I thought there's no way, if her people are firing a warning shot about her pulling out, that this will be the day she announces.  Also, sitting there in the rain in the field, at an event to which she was invited, but did not plan herself, didn't feel like the right environment.  The 3-year anniversary of her RNC speech was just a bit too obvious for Sarah, too.  She is totally unpredictable and a maverick to the nth degree.  I have a feeling her announcement is going to come like a shot in the dark--no one will see it coming nor be prepared for it.  That's just how she likes it done.

Leaders like Sarah Palin are few and far between.  I know people hate her.  I know people think she's a moron and a joke.  I cannot stand the people who think that about her because what it proves to me is they hate that for which she stands.  The hatred people feel for Sarah Palin is not about Sarah Palin.  That is a fact.  After all, she's nothing more than a small town mayor, who's a mom and wife of a blue collar worker.  Big deal.  She lives way up in Alaska, so what could possibly be threatening about her?  What the people who hate her actually hate is everything single thing she stands for.  There are people who hate the truth and that's exactly what is comes down to.  They have to destroy her because she's effective.  The fact that she flat out refuses to back down and shut up is more than they can take.  They have to shut the truth up and it is dangerously threatening to them when it is delivered via such an effective vessel.  Isn't it interesting that the inconsequential, stupid, moronic, incoherent Sarah Palin can't do a single thing without being smothered by the press?  Even the enemies of truth can't resist its light.  And I am not referring to Sarah Palin, the person.  The fact that she is so effective at speaking the truth is not something even she can control, other than to allow the truth to be spoken through her.  There are many others who speak the same message, but very few who have the same impact as the governor.

The reaction of the press when her caravan arrived at the event was a sight to behold.  It was shortly before she actually spoke.  My husband noticed 4 or 5 vehicles heading right behind stage and told me to look, just in time to see a herd of reporters, racing each other through the crowd to get down there.  What does that look like to her, as she sits in her car, looking out at the herd, racing towards her?  It has got to be a ridiculous spectacle. It's no wonder she barely gives them the time of day.  Who can respect a crowd of people who, as a whole, dismiss you as an ignoramus, but then crawl over each other, trying to get as close as possible?  What a bunch of fools.  What they miss completely is with their behavior, they continually prove what makes Sarah Palin relevant.  They're drawn to her for the same reason as everyone else, even though their response differs from her supporters.  It's a phenomenon.

Besides what she says and stands for, the fact that she is a real human being and shows it when she talks to people, is an expression of trust in her fellow Americans.  Letting her guard down and just being who she is, rather than carefully calculating every word that comes out of her mouth, proves that she is trustworthy.  For example, she can share a joke, knowing those listening will appreciate it.  One of her most memorable lines yesterday was when she said, "Polls are for strippers and skiers."  When she gives a speech, she's not talking TO her listeners, she's in conversation WITH them.  And the listeners know it.

The overall take-away for me yesterday is she is going to run, but, of course, there's no guarantee until an actual announcement is made.  Even if she doesn't, I continue to believe that exactly the right person is being ripened for the hearty work of leading us out of the tangled mess in which we find ourselves.  Who that person is will become evident to all eventually and there's still plenty of time.

Words of Encouragement Are a Scarcity

Tonight on Hannity, Vice President Dick Cheney said the following:

"I'm enormously proud to be an American and to have had the opportunity to serve.  I think the potential is virtually unlimited for the future of this nation and what we can achieve.  I think the next generation will have opportunities to do things we haven't even dreamed of yet."

The proof that beautiful words of national pride and optimism are few and far between these days is that my ears perk up when I hear them and, boy, does it feel good to hear encouragement, rather than non-stop malaise and doom.

I believe what Vice President Cheney said and that optimism is the whole reason the tea party exists.  The current direction of this country is not who we are and we know it.  The tea party knows what needs to happen to correct it and get us back on our path of certain greatness.  I think the discouragement and/or fear sometimes reflected in the polls is simply the somewhat overwhelming nature of our challenges--BUT, we can and will overcome them--we are Americans, after all.
