More Intelligentsia Show Their Shining Faces

SIGH.  OK, so tonight the coverage of the Occupy Wall Street protests revealed 2 things:

1.)  Occupy Wall Street protestors do not believe in bringing the American flag to their protest.  Not one.

2.)  Most of them have no idea why they're there, evidenced by their answers to the question, "Why are you here?"

One of the young men, sitting on the ground, playing songs on his guitar said, "You know, I really don't know.  I just know my faith in humanity has been restored," when asked why he was there.  Another man, in answer to the question said, "There's just a lot of unhappiness."  When asked why he was unhappy, he said, "Sometimes you don't know why you're unhappy.  And that's ok."  Another young man said that pollution is wrong.  "Like that building over there.  Why is it being built?  So it can be filled up with garbage?", he said.  This is the point at which my 17-year-old son said to me, "I think I just started to get stupid."  So I shut it off.  We don't believe in child endangerment.

Here's the thing: a house built on sand cannot stand.  This protest is built on shifting sand and these people aren't grounded in anything.  Their message is white noise, mixed in with some "blah blah blah."  The tea party, on the other hand, is built on solid ground.  It is NOT going anywhere and will NOT fizzle, much to the frustration of liberals, who are the minority.  The people at EVERY tea party event I've been to espouse the exact same message and it all boils down to this:  We the People have GOT to get a handle on our government.  We love our military.  We love the free market.  We embrace personal responsibility.  We cherish our freedom.  The message never changes and it always resonates.  You can ask any attendee and they'll tell you the same thing.  That's precisely why this movement took off like a rocket ship 2.5 years ago. We didn't need to get our game plan.  We already had it.  We just needed to act.

What an honor the be living in such a consequential time in our nation's history!  What stories we get to pass down!  We're making history.

Wall Street Protests

This is bugging me to no end.  I'd like to know what the protesters in Manhattan are protesting, exactly.  The fact that Wall Street makes money??  What is it they want?  It is deeply offensive to have people in this country, demanding the wealth of others be forcibly taken from them.  If they're unhappy with how Wall Street operates, they need to work through Congress to fix any possibility of inappropriate exchanges.

I saw on the news last night a husband and wife and their young child, who were at the protest.  The man said he's an attorney and he works long and hard but doesn't feel he makes enough money for his work.  His wife said they were there because they wish they had better health coverage and they're living on credit.  Sorry, but I'm not fully grasping what Wall Street is supposed to do about the fact you wish you made more money and are living on credit.  That's your problem to figure out.  Go do something else instead of demanding someone else fix it for you.  Helplessness in capable people is a disgusting attribute.

Like so many conservatives have said, liberal people believe money is static and the "rich" have too big a piece of the pie, rather than believing wealth, by nature, increases and anyone can participate and become successful on their own merits.  One is a negative, self-defeating approach and the other is a positive, hope-filled approach.  I'll take hope.

Good News for Susan Sarandon

Opportunist Susan Sarandon descended on the Occupy Wall Street protests recently and said the following super de duper intelligent thing:

"We can't let our Arab brothers and sisters get ahead of us in terms of how they're changing things.  Hopefully the tool kit exists here for a non-violent change."

Newsflash, Susan: The "tool kit" for "non-violent change" is known as the Tea Party.  Perhaps you've heard of them.  I'm wondering, too, if you've heard about how Saudi Arabian women can be lashed if they're caught driving.  Or how, in some Middle Eastern countries, women can be stoned to death if they're caught in adultery or if they are found guilty of being a rape victim.  Do you recall, Susan, when the Iranian people were marching in the streets, protesting the fact their votes were stolen from them in an election and Ahmadinejad was declared the "winner?"  Those people marched, carrying protest signs written in ENGLISH--the language WE speak--demanding freedom.  I believe those placards could have been interpreted as messages directly to US--in OUR living rooms.  I have a feeling your desire to emulate them would be incomprehensible to most Middle Easterners.

Besides Susan Sarandon and Michael Moore, there was a protestor on the street, who was approached by Geraldo Rivera, who asked him to tell about himself.  "How old are you?  What do you do?"  The man replied, "It doesn't matter who I am as a person but, rather, who I am as a spirit."  OK, then.  That pretty much tells us everything we need to know about these Wall Street protests.

AP: “With al-Alwaki Dead, al-Qaida Lacks Western Voice”

Am I living on Mars?  What I read into this headline from the Associated Press is how poor, poor al-Qaida has suffered a set-back and now their western voice is gone!  Gee, I hope they can recover from this damaging blow and reinstate their western voice.  We all know how much their western voice has contributed to the world.  These “journalists” are bizarre people.  How about one of these headlines, instead:

“U.S. Forces Score a Major Victory on Our Behalf”

“USA Military Showcases Unmatched Skill in Enemy Takedown”

“American Safety Further Secured With Elimination of Key Terrorist”

Oh, but that would first require the AP to acknowledge al-Qaida is a dark, evil enemy whose sole purpose is complete destruction of the western way of life.  Do they have any concept of this?  This is not simply a playground dispute where 2 parties need to learn to share and exhibit kindness toward each other.  Gentle, re-guiding discipline is not going to cut it.  The only choice al-Qaida has given us is to seek their destruction.  They are the ones threatening us.  Not the other way around.  As I’ve asked my son before, if someone is chasing you with a knife, do you just stand there and let him wield it or do you fight back?  No, you did not ask for the attack, but it is happening and you either fight back or simply accept your own demise.  It is no more complicated than that.  Bullies are never appeased.
